Thank you to all 2011 DCSS staff!

23 Sep 11

Thank you to all 2011 DCSS festival and event staff! Please find below a message from DC Site Services’ Matt Hettle to all who worked with DCSS in 2011…

"A big thank you goes out to everyone who worked with DC Site Services in the summer of 2011! We started the year with what appeared to be a short calendar but again soon found that we had yet another busy summer season ahead...

It seems so long ago now that we were working at the London Marathon and Royal Wedding (with accompanying television and newspaper interviews about the work DCSS was doing!). All this has provided us with some top notch video footage of Matt Main working with his hands in his pockets and of course me actually doing some work out of the office.

We've always strived through the festival season to do our best – in the sun, rain and high winds along with the other ups and downs of living in a field for weeks. Each and every one of you that has worked with us has contributed in some way or another to our success in 2011 – from remaining at your post for hours on end, giving clear directions to the public, litter picking and cleaning at the Taste Festivals, clicking on a gate at Glastonbury,  pushing cars out of mud at Latitude, looking after the toilets at Sonisphere and Camp Bestival, traffic marshalling at the Medway Festivals, Green Man and Electric Picnic, recycling at T4 on the beach and The Big Chill, stewarding at the Reading and Leeds Festivals and some even made it right to the end of our summer season with Proms in the Park, Harvest at Jimmy’s and Alex James presents Harvest!

A special thank you goes out to all our returning staff for your continued support. Staff returning year after year not only benefits our new staff, sharing and learning from your experience, but also the festival goers who receive continuity from our customer service.

Thanks again to everyone for another successful summer season, looking forward to your return in 2012!"

"Many thanks for the hard work of DC Site Services at our summer shows in 2011"

Simon Flanagan, Operations Director, Brand Events UK – Golf Live and Taste Festivals

"DC Site Services provided a fantastic waste disposal and cleaning service at our most recent event. The staff were friendly, hard working and were very patient when being faced with numerous requests! I would definitely recommend DC Site Services to anyone looking for a good waste disposal and cleaning company at a reasonable price. Thank you again to Matt and the team for all your hard work!''

Alexandra Mooney Event Manager, Rouge Events - SkyFest

"A beautiful show, with everything in the right place and running as it should, thank you all very very much indeed"

Harmony Blake, Festival Republic

"I would like to pass on specific and very warm thanks to the car park staff who were pushing cars around the particularly boggy corners and on the stone track. We certainly wouldn't have got out without them, and I would imagine that they pushed a huge number of people who were stuck as well and I'm sure that they ended up very muddy, wet and cold.  Please pass on a really big thank you to that team!"

Regards Jenny Anslow - Latitude Festival goer

"The main reason for emailing you is to praise your staff/volunteers. Even though the rain was pouring down all Saturday and Sunday, your helpers were courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and always had a smile on their faces. In fact, the team at the entrance to the arena on Sunday were especially friendly. Added praise should go to the 2 poor guys who were trying to get our cars out of the mud near to the green gate off the A145 (memorial car park) at midnight on Sunday evening. They had every right to be grumpy, but they were the opposite. Their intelligence and perseverance got many of our cars out of the knee-deep mud and away onto the road. Please will you pass on this thanks to them from us for a job very well done."

Nick & Alex - Festival goers

"Hi, just wanted to say a massive thank you to ALL the car park boys and girls who got my car out of the car park late Sunday night. Without them I think I would still be sat in the field!! They were brilliant, just kept pushing the car out and managed to get me moving again on numerous occasions when i was completely stuck! They must have been filthy, cold and really tired but they were brilliant and i couldn’t have got home without them, so thank you!! Brilliant festival, as always!!"

Maria - Festival goer

"I am just sending a quick email to let you know that the festival staff were absolutely fantastic yesterday. The weather was truly foul and i did feel sorry for them. We had travelled in a campervan because we had a long journey back and were going to stay overnight at a local campsite and when we pulled into the day parking site, they checked that we were in the right place because obviously they thought we might have got the wrong entrance. Very helpful in putting us in a good and easy spot to get out of and all the while, it was tipping down! Being an old bird, i came back early for a nap in the camper and when i woke up cold, i turned on the engine to warm up the van and within about 1 minute, there was a knock at my window from one of the festival staff offering advice on how to leave the site. When we did finally leave at midnight, again the car parking staff were great. Lots of cars getting stuck but staff very quickly on the scene to push/pull them out. They must have been exhausted. On the way out, our camper was checked because there was a missing child and the man and lady that were doing the checking were being so thorough. The parents must have been distraught. Did they find the child? I sincerely hope so. I lost my two year old nephew for about 5 minutes a couple of weeks ago and it was terrifying. Hope all is well there. Anyway, really well organised and very helpful staff. Really impressed and will come again next year."
